Happy Life Tips: Create a Happy List
When things get a little too stressful it is easy to let the day, night, or even the week go downhill with it.
I always suggest to my clients that they have a "Happy List" close at hand. This is a list of things that you know, no matter what, always put a smile on face and help elevate your mood.
WHAT IS A HAPPY LIST?
This list should be everything you can think of from a great song to a favorite movie, activity, snack, or even a person or people you enjoy being around.
HOW DO I MAKE A HAPPY LIST?
I urge people to actually write it down and keep it accessable for two reasons.
- The first being that if you have to write something down, you have to think about it, and we want these lists to be strong.
- The second reason is that when things go wrong, it is easy to get caught up in them and allow them to continue - even if we are unaware that we are doing so. If you have this list and refer to it when you need it, you force a change.
USE YOUR HAPPY LIST!
You deserve to be happy so screw the bad day! Blast that song, do the moves from "Flashdash", eat the pizza, hang with your buddies. Do whatever you need to do to enforce positivity in your life at that moment.
The trick to this "Happy List" is to know that it is there to help you get both feet back on the ground but it is not there to be used a crutch (such as over eating pizza all the time to fill a void within you).
But if you use it as the pick-me-up it is there to be, and you allow your mood to readjust, you will find the rest of it follows suit.
