Don't Freak Out
How do you get control back when you feel like you have lost it?
Stop. And then think.
When you are running around like a chicken with your head cut off you probably aren't accomplishing anything. If you stop running you will stop the madness. Take 10 minutes away from the problem - go for a walk, breath, whatever you can squeeze in. Just do it.
Clean up.
Clutter creates confusion and if you clean it up, I promise you will feel just a little bit better.
Prioritize.
Prioritize the to do list. If you can only do three things today what are they from this list? Pick those, and do them.
Learn to say NO.
It's the best word in the English language and it could be your best friend if you let it. If you are pulled in 100 different directions and are working on 100 different things, even if you give them all your best, that won't amount to much.
Last but not least.
Last, and perhaps most important, understand that the only thing you have control over in this world is you, how you react, and the actions you decide to take. This is true of the rest of the world over you as well. They can't ruin your day, but you can let them. They can't stress you out, but you can let yourself feel that way. They can't even tell you what to do without your agreeing to do it.
So don't fret about losing control. It was never yours to lose in the first place. But do focus on maintainging your cool head and keeping your life, work, and personal space because your whole life will be better for it.
